Jaala “Jay” Prescod is a Toronto-based dancer and actor with over a decade of professional training across dance, musical theatre, and performance. Known for her precision, musicality, and commanding stage presence, Jay brings clarity, charisma, and adaptability to every project she undertakes.
Her professional training includes the Performance BFA program at York University, Wexford School of the Arts, the AIM Apprentice Program, Movement Collective, and Boss Dance Company.
Jay continues to expand her screen and stage presence through on-going acting training with Shelby Bain at LB Studios and regularly participates in workshops with leading choreographers such as Luther Brown, Todd Williamson, Tati Parker, Amanda-May Wilson, Klaudia Antos, Paul Mula,Shane Tubog., Carl Mandac, Lola Beckers, O’Shani “Ocean”, and Raoul Wilke.
Jay has performed with Toronto artists Zakisha Brown and DJ Shannyn Hill, and has worked with nationally recognized director Kevan Funk, as well as choreographers including Shameka Blake, Leah Totten, O’shani “Ocean,” Rhonda Roberts, Nicola Pantin, and Nicko Giannakos.
Her performance credits include projects such as Toronto Tempo x Nino Brown and Lo Fi Beats, along with live events including Fever After Dark, 1234 Dance Arts, Afronto, and Mini Pop Kids.
Her musical theatre credits include Hadestown (Dancer and Dance Captain), Highschool Musical (Cheerleader), and Mamma Mia (Ensemble Dancer). She has also performed internationally and locally with IE Crew at World of Dance New York and Prelude Toronto, demonstrating her ability to excel in both competitive and commercial performance environments.
Versatile across contemporary, commercial, musical theatre, tap, acting, singing, and modelling, Jay’s greatest strength lies in storytelling through movement. She approaches each role with discipline, emotional intelligence, and strong on-camera awareness, making her a dynamic and reliable performer for film, television, and live productions. Driven by continuous training and a deep passion for embodied storytelling, Jay brings both technical precision and authentic performance to every space she enters.
